"NO! GET DOWN! SAM!"
Bane's voice rang out in the quiet library. He'd gone there today, taking his time exploring the parts of the Pediatric Hospital he had access to. Apparently, he was going to be there for a while. He'd already been there for a while, actually. Three months, in a coma. He'd woken up finally with amnesia and was now being treated for PTSD as well. No one really had any information on him and he'd never had any visitors. The Peace Corps had paid for his stay until they'd been able to locate a bank account in his name. He was wealthy apparently and they'd taken the payments from his account without much fuss. Other than that, no one really knew who Bane Fonteyne was or where he had come from.
He'd reached out to the Peace Corps, requesting his file and the information they had on him. They'd only returned with the name of a town, a small little place outside of Crystal Bay and his age. He was 18. The dog tags that always hung around his neck had been his first clues after he'd woken up. They'd given him his name and a link to the Peace Corps. A bullet wound straight through his chest was what had sent him back to the States and straight into a coma. Apparently, he'd been sent into a pretty nasty part of the world to give aide to starving and oppressed people. No one had really told him where yet. He'd seen some awful things, not that he remembered.
His memories occasionally bubbled up in the form of his PTSD flashbacks. He didn't understand any of them but they came with intense visions and frightening emotions. The memories were always powerful but fleeting, nothing he could hang on to. He still had no idea who he was after they hit.
Now, he was in the throws of a flashback. He'd been in the library and had bent down to retrieve a fallen book in a remote isle when he looked at the cover. It was a scene from a battle with big words painted across the top. "World At War."
Something about the book had triggered it in him. He'd dropped to the floor and now lay there with his hands pressed over his ears, screaming for someone to get down, to take cover. He sounded desperate, warning the mysterious person of gunfire. The shots rang out in his mind again and again as he rocked back and forth on the ground. He was somewhere else completely, no longer seeing the shelves of books he'd just been surrounded by.

Marissa wad in the library just trying to figure out stuff. She wanted to know why she was the way she was. She was searching through every book possible but nothing led her to why she was like this or what was wrong with her.
there's nothing wrong with you said the voices in her head.
She was pulled out of her thoughts by someone screaming. She was getting annoyed quickly and all thoughts of being nice shot out of her head but still she tried to control herself. She took a breather before standing up.
just kill that awful noise! one of the voices saod. Marissa shook her head as if to get it away and kept walking. She saw a guy on the ground. She put her hand on his arm. "Excuse me," She kept saying until he stopped screaming. "Are you okay?" Marissa asked.

Bane was no longer in the library. He was surrounded by dense and green foliage, gunshots firing all around him. Blood choked up from his throat, filling his mouth till he felt like he was drowning in himself. He couldn't hear the girl's voice but her touch on his arm was too much for him. His body tensed up and then he flailed out, convinced he was being assaulted by some unseen enemy. He didn't hit her, thankfully, or he'd have felt awful when he woke. His hands hit the metal bookshelves hard enough to bruise them both.
The shock of the impact was enough to jolt him out of the flashback. His vision was solid black for a moment, his breathing hard and heavy, the pounding of his heart in his chest painful. Slowly he came back to himself. The blackness of his vision washed away and he was left staring up at girl.
"Uhm.. Did I?" hurt you. were the words he wanted to say. "Startle you?" Were the words that came out instead. He lived in constant fear that he was going to hurt someone else during one of his black outs.

Marissa stepped back when the person banged his hands. She just looked at him when he seemed to step out of it. "I was just I was wondering if you were okay?" Marissa said. She ran her hands through her hair and looked at the guy.
She didn't tell him the other reason whyshe came over was that If she didn't she would've ended up ripping her hair out trying not to kill him. "I'm um I'm Marissa. "

When it happened, it hit her hard. Those days of lacking an inkling of pain evaporated into a overwhelming mist of antagonizing pain. That moment where she'd gotten a bit too excited trying to help another patient had sent her to her knees, collapsing as he heart fried. It was a common ache she was used to, but the initial bite was something she could never get over. Days- one, two, three she was stuck in bed, her mother never leaving her side as she was pumped with large doses of medication to hopefully bring her pulse back down to a decent speed. What really bothered Teagan the most, though, was knowing that the next time she dropped down onto the anesthetic scented floor may be her last. The nerves in her most vital organ could only withstand the electrical shocks for so long.
Any minute could be her last.
With that thought heavy on her mind, the moment her heart rate dropped to its normal bpm, she demanded that Todd took her to the library- she'd finished her book 'Shiver' and needed the next book in the series 'Linger' before she went insane. Of course she wasn't stable enough to walk, she could barely waddle to the bathroom without her heart racing and vision blurring, so her blonde pal towed in a wheelchair and sat her down. Teagan was so happy that her nurse was back for he weekend, the woman who took the shift during the week was just horrid. The male was the only thing keeping her sane as she sat in her ice cold room, fingers twitching against her dulled phone screen at the wee hours of the morning. Clothed in a thick pair of black sweats and an over-sized sweater, the brunette stuck her sock clad feet on the stirrups, relaxing into the leather vessel as Todd pinned her IV on the rack attached to the chair.
They made small talk on the way to the library, their usual chatter and teasing no less entertaining than it was a week ago. Down the halls, turning corners, scaling corridors- it only took a mere ten minutes for them to reach the book ridden place from the Cardiology ward. The moment they entered, a low pitch shout sent her head reeling. Todd arched a brow, his caring instincts setting in. Both went on a mission, peaking down aisles of books in search for the source of the patient screeching. It wasn't until they reached the nonfiction books that they caught a girl standing before a boy who was just retracting from slamming his fists against the shelves. Teagan went to rise, but Todd stopped her quickly, placing his palms on her shoulders and urging her down. Casting an understanding glare his way, her body felt queasy and she grew light-headed with her quickening pulse. Trying to fight it down, she raised her arm and pointed at the boy, calling out, "You. You, you, you- hey. Chill out." Waving her hand at him, she cast him a soft smile, hoping the familiarity of her face would ease his mind. Having just caught the girl's name as they rolled up, she explained the quickest she could, "Marissa, was it? This is Bane, just woke from a coma, doesn't remember much." That's all she'd really gotten to know about the male before she'd passed out under the stress of it all, he heart too weak for her to keep up with Bane's frantic ways. Today, though, she was prepared for any curve ball she was thrown.
Pursing her lips, she curled her finger at the male, urging him to scoot her way so she could offer him a comforting hand or some helpful words, anything that'd help him calm down. Directing her attention back to the other girl, she let her grin return, other hand wiggling her way as she introduced herself, "I'm Teagan. Yes I can walk, but my organs don't want to cooperate with me today." Todd patted her head softly before excusing himself, taking a seat at one of the vacant tables so she could converse without a babysitter around, yet still keep an eye on her.

Bane was staring at the girl silently, trying to gather his scattered and torn mind. He was always this way after a flashback; confused, unsure, and his mind cluttered. It always took him a few moments before he was totally back to himself. Well, truthfully, he was never really back to himself. He still couldn’t remember anything about who he was.
In the few short days that had passed since he’d woken up, he hadn’t learned anything else about who he was but he’d learned a little about how he was. He was a pretty nice guy, in his own opinion. He hadn’t gotten mad when the sweet, blonde, nurse had dropped his bowl of soup onto him, not even agitated. He had felt extremely bad when he’d startled Teagan and even worse when he’d blacked out in front of her and she’d fainted from the stress of it. And even now he was only ashamed and embarrassed that he’d just blacked out in the library.
His thoughts were still not clear to himself when he looked up, his eyes caught by a small hand waving at him. He smiled slightly, feeling himself calm at the familiar sight of Teagan. She was the only thing familiar to him and in a way, he’d latched onto her the same way a baby bird latches onto the first thing it sees after hatching. He was glad that she’d answered for him, giving him a moment longer to clarify his thoughts as he struggled to stand up slowly. He moved slightly towards Teagan, leaning her way as he smiled at her and then at Marissa.
“What she said… I’m Bane…” He responded softly, nodding to the girl. He felt bad for freaking out like that in the middle of nowhere and causing trouble for everyone. “And I’m fine, mostly.” He added, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. He wasn’t necessarily awkward, he just found waking up on the floor of a library surrounded by people a little awkward. “Thank you, though, Marissa.” He smiled down at Teagan, the motion something natural and genuine. “And you too, Teagan.”

"Oh I didn't do much no need to thank me..." Marissa said awkwardly. She just looked at Bane and the other girl Teagan. "You're the new person in the crazy war- sorry thats what my friends and I call were in it too. I didn't I mean um sorry. I don't Mean that your crazy some people who go there aren't extremely crazy. Like one just has OCD and he's really nice and I don't 5 ink he's crazy, " Marissa said. She ran her hands through her hair nervously.
Why was she so awkward around people? She just tried to smile and friendly smile but he voices were just ringing around in her head making her feel worse.

A wave, that's all she gave him in return for him thanking her. She didn't do anything to be thanked for, so she didn't she any reason for him to give it to her. Marissa, though, she deserved it. She'd kept him calm, until a familiar face could arrive. So when the girl started to talk about him being part of the 'crazy' ward along with her and apologizing, Teagan just shook her head, the smile refusing to drift off her lips, "Hey, don't worry about it." She clearly had a tendency to talk for the boy.
Speaking of, she turned her attention to him, going to set her hands in her lap as she jokingly said, "I'd offer you a seat, but it's kind of taken." Grinning, she shook her head, honestly glad he was doing somewhat better- excluding his black outs, of course.
Bitting her lip, she bat her eyes between the two before finally offering up, "Hey, why don't we go do something fun? You guys could take turns pushing me into people or something." Probably not a good idea for any of them, but it was all she had at the moment.
