Although she'd finished the book she'd been reading well over fifteen minutes ago, May stayed sitting down with her head against the table. She was tired, and the library wasn't helping. The lighting was minimal due to the lack of people, so it only made her feel more drowsy. With her head rested against her arms, she closed her eyes and though she didn't actually fall asleep, she fell into some sort of dream-like state, only half there. It wasn't until someone tapped her shoulder that she lifted up her head.
Instinctively, May bolted upright and jerked away from the touch, glancing up at the stranger. "Why did you do that?"

Alec was in the library when he saw a girl who was nearly asleep. He tapped her figuring he should warn her that if she fwll asleep she'd probably get yelled at. He smiled at the girl,"not to be rude but if you fall asleep you'll probably get yelled at they tend to yell at people for that. " hhe had never seen the girl before but she probably was from a different ward.

May frowned up at him, pulling her jacket further around herself. With the sleeves now covering her hands, she looked away from the guy who'd approached her. It was rare that she ventured out of her ward, so it was kind of odd to see somebody different. She could tell he was sick, and she was torn between trying not to offend him and trying to defend herself. "Turns out they yell at you for not sleeping, too." She smirked for a second before wiping at her neck irritably. "I hate it here."

"Yeah they yell at uou for A lot of things here." Alec said stilll annoyed at his nurse. "Mind if I join you?" Alec asked with a smile. The girl seemed friendly. The last girl he talked to was rude and insensitive.

Gesturing to the chair, May shrugged. "Go for it, you may as well." She yawned, leaning back in the uncomfortable chair. The guy seemed nice enough, at least he'd asked to take a seat rather than force his company upon her - she hated that. "If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been here?" She glanced at him almost nervously, curious but cautious of invading his privacy.

The library was an awkward place for Ash, mainly because he could never tell if he hated the place or if he loved the place. He loved it because it was so messy and disorganized, and so if he was in a good mood or stressed out he could go and tidy up, a behavior that he'd even admitted to his therapist to calm him down. But, he hated it for the same reason. Everything was just so messy that there were days where he went in and, if he couldn't sort out what he was trying to, he'd just feel a sense of foreboding, or like his world was spinning out of control just because he couldn't alphabetise the kid's section fast enough.
It sucked.
Today was almost an exception, as Ash hadn't actually come here to calm down, or even to try and sort things out. He came to escape - to read. He'd picked up a book to read but, as soon as he'd moved to sit down, he'd found someone already sat in his chair. Well shit, what was he supposed to do now? He couldn't sit somewhere else, as stupid as he knew that sounded, but he was also terrified of bringing it up to the guy sat there in case he just sounded like he was insane. However, he knew the paranoia wasn't worth avoiding the stigma, and so walked over anyway, white knuckles clutching the book nervously before he finally interrupted the pair in front of him.
"I - uh - I don't mean to be rude but - but that's kind of my chair," his voice was a cross between awkward, desperate, and just outright scared, his gaze flickering rapidly from the guy who'd just sat in his chair to the girl sat next to him. He wouldn't normally be so blunt, but he really didn't fancy freaking out and feeling like the world was going to end just because he was sat in the wrong place.

She couldn't help but raise a brow. "Is that inpatient or just admitted generally?" She asked, too curious to even remember he'd asked her a question. A little too quickly, May shook her head and waited for the slight spell of dizziness to disappear before flicking her hair from her face. "Oh, uh, just three weeks." She said quietly, pulling at her sleeves again as she grew embarrassed.
Before she knew it, someone else had walked over and was saying something to Alec that she didn't quite catch. May looked nervously between the two, a little unsure of what was going on considering she'd only caught the start of what he was saying.

"Inpatient. " Alec said wuth a smile he was never bitter abiut it because at least he was getting help. Alec turned when a guy was complaining about his seat. "Um...." alec said awkwardly not sure if the kid was part if the mental illness ward. Alec knew the guy wasnt being mean just by the way his voice sounded. Alec stood up "uh chair is all yours." He said before sitting on the floor in front of May.

"I'm really sorry," Ash replied quietly, looking between the two of them before he gaze dropped to the floor and he took the seat, putting the book gently on the table as he tried to figure exactly what to say, because he was fairly sure right now he just seemed like a freak, which for some reason really bothered him. You'd think he'd be used to it right now, surely? And yet he was sat between two strangers, suddenly very, overly conscious that he'd just disturbed the conversation for the sake of a chair. He then sensed the lull in the conversation and, feeling more than slightly responsible, he broke the silence with, "the chair, it's - uh - I have OCD." He held his hands up in the air almost as if he was surrendering, deciding that the awkwardness of the conversation probably his fault.
It all clicked into place. Of course. May shot the new guy a small smile and said, "that's okay, I'm sure he prefers the floor anyway. Don't worry about it." She didn't blame him, but she couldn't deny the awkward atmosphere that had enclosed around them. "So, um, I'm May." Realising giving the two guys her name would probably help the conversation along, she thought. Or she hoped.

"I like the floor it's soft." Alec grinned always making the most out of everything. He looked over at the two. "I'm Alec." He said with a smile. He clearly looked quite sick and here ally hoped that wouldn't bother the OCD person because Alec really couldn't help it.
May rolled her eyes with a slight smile at the irony of Alec. He was, most likely, dying of cancer and yet there he was all sunshine and smiles. "Soft, huh? Well that's more than can be said for the beds on my ward." It felt odd for May to be communicating with real people again. Since she'd been taken out of school, the only people she'd really spoken to was her therapist, dietician, her mum and her brother. Her friends hadn't even bothered to try and get in touch, for all they knew she could be dead. But would they care? Probably not.

Okay, so the early awkwardness was definitely his fault, but it was starting to go now, and Ash honestly wasn't sure whether it'd make more sense to just sit and read, try and join in the conversation, or just leave. He wanted to do the last one, but he also didn't want to feel like he'd just caused a scene over something as ridiculous as a chair, only to then leave a few minutes later - that'd sure as hell be a way to freak thee pair of them out, right? He settled on joining the conversation, even if it really did pain him to do so (his people skills were rusty, it's not like he'd had many friends at school, either). "Maybe they're just scared that, if they make things soft, people might not actually hate their time here," he chimed in, offering the pair of them a warm smile. He was very, very bad at socialising, but at least he was trying... Right?

Alec smiled at the kid and nodded,"they're definitely scared of people enjoying it here. The nurses here are bitches.' Alec said. Alec was still angey at Sierra it seemed like shs didn't understand anything. Alec liked these kids, even thiugh ash was ocd he seemed nice and May seemed really nice too.
